Monique Griffin

Monique Griffin is a board-certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adults. With a warm, collaborative approach, Monique offers psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Monique holds both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from top Texas universities, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Texas Woman’s University and the University of Texas at Arlington. Her clinical interests include the intersection of nutrition and mental health, and she has presented research on the role of Vitamin D and nutritional supplements in psychiatric treatment.

Throughout her career, Monique has served clients across a wide range of settings—from community mental health centers and inpatient units to emergency psychiatric services and private practice. She has also held leadership roles, including Regional Director of Advanced Practice Providers, and is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Monique currently practices under the supervision of Dr. Michael Burke, founder of Emergence Treatment and Research, a nationally recognized psychiatrist specializing in the care of the medically ill and underserved. Together, they bring a thoughtful, integrative model of care to each client.

Monique is known for her genuine empathy, clinical expertise, and commitment to empowering patients and families through every stage of care.

Dr. Dewitt Alfred

With over twenty years of experience in treating patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings, Dr. Dewitt Alfred, III brings a holistic approach to his work at Emergence.  He is a graduate of Hahnemann University’s Medical School in Philadelphia, and he completed his residency at Morehouse School of Medicine.  

Dr. Alfred has specialized in treating anxiety, bipolar,  and depression disorders as well as schizophrenia, and those with a dual diagnosis of mental health and addiction.  His work includes a focus on how complex trauma may impact these and other psychiatric conditions. His broad range of experiences with patients in a variety of settings allows him an extra level of skills when needed to assist them in navigating the complex mental health system. 

A.J. Norris

AJ Norris is a highly experienced mental health professional and executive leader with over 25 years of experience in the behavioral health field. Currently, AJ serves as the Principal Consultant at Emergence Treatment and Research, where he oversees the creation of revenue projections, operational workflows, and resource development to optimize the organization’s impact on mental health services.

AJ's previous experience includes serving as Chief Operations Officer at United Behavioral Health Solutions (UBHS), Regional Director at Transitional Family Services, and as Executive Director at Pathways Transition Programs.  In these roles, he has been instrumental in expanding access to mental health services across Georgia and neighboring states. The focus includes coordinating mental health services with nursing home facilities, recruiting and retaining top-tier social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists, and providing vital support to a variety of settings to provide access to mental health treatment in their community.

AJ Norris is dedicated to advancing mental health practices, improving service delivery systems, and empowering communities to access high-quality care. Their extensive background in leadership, program development, and strategic planning makes them a respected figure in the behavioral health industry.
